Africa in Global History

Africa is often seen as an isolated continent. This vision is deeply entrenched in Europeans’ representations about the world since Hegel’s statement that Africa was not a "historical continent". It is still present in many representations of today’s Africa, a continent seen as marginal in the world economy.

This blog explores Africa’s connections in a global historical perspective. It is produced by students of African history at the University of Bayreuth. It entails text material and images produced and published by students.
