The blog is linked to the research cluster translocations*  and acts as a partner/extension blog to the existing Hypothèses blog: “Translocations. An anthology”. Likewise for “Translocations. Ikonographie”, it is the aim to create a scientifically developed collection of image sources on the following questions: How have translocations - removals, destruction, removal, conquests, restitutions of works of art and cultural objects - been staged and presented since ancient times? What do the places where they are no longer located look like? Particular attention is paid to political iconography and media resources such as documentary and propaganda films and photography, as well as amateur videos from the Internet.

Der Blog ist an das Forschungscluster translocations* (s.u) angebunden und als Partner-/ Erweiterungs-blog zu dem bereits bei Hypothèses bestehenden Blog: "Translocations. Eine Anthologie", gedacht. Auch für "Translocations. Ikonographie" ist es Ziel, eine wissenschaftlich erschlossene Sammlung von Bildquellen zu folgenden Fragen zu erstellen: Wie wurden seit der Antike Translokationen – Wegnahmen, Zerstörungen, Abtransporte, Eroberungen, Restitutionen von Kunstwerken und Kulturgütern – inszeniert und dargestellt? Wie sehen die Orte aus, an denen sie sich nicht mehr befinden? Das Augenmerk liegt besonders auf politischer Ikonographie und medialen Mitteln wie Dokumentar- und Propagandafilm bzw. -fotografie bis hin zu Amateurvideos aus dem Internet.
