OpenEdition Books Select is the first crowdfunding program for Open Access development in French-language scientific publishing.

Jointly presented with Couperin – the French consortium of academic and research institutions for digital resources –, the first round started in 2018 and ended in April 2019. For this campaign, OpenEdition collaborated with Knowledge Unlatched, a crowdfunding player specialized in English-language monographs.

The 2018/2019 round included a selection of 30 books provided by the key academic publishers in the humanities and social sciences in the following disciplines: arts, communication, history, literature, philosophy, information science, political science, sociology, etc. These titles were selected by an international committee of librarians from prestigious institutions.

26 titles, including 6 frontlists, are now published open access thanks to the support of our partner institutions.
