This blog is a repository for general ideas on translation, history and theory of translation and other related musings the author may come across.
It is entitled WatchDog as a reference to the book The Phantom Tollbooth by Norman Juster. The many puns in this childrens’ book as the ultimate challenge to translators - all the more as some are illustrated. The case of the ‘watchdog Tock’ exemplifies the kind of translation conundrum translators carry along in the back of their minds, always hoping one day to find the ultimate solution.
